family & general information: Growing up Hayden always had everything handed to her even if she did want to work for it herself. She was the "all American girl" through her years at school. It was all very typical. Her father Jacob Dusick, a lawyer, owned his own firm and her mother, Tessa, was the lovely homemaker. Growing up she idolized her big brother, Jonathan. He could never do a single thing wrong. The pride and joy of their family, both brother and sister were excellent students, out going in after school activities and further more they were pillars to the community. Both brother and sister were far from being spoiled, in spite of their fathers income. Hayden was very much a daddy's girl but she really was a far cry from the spoiled brat, that people tended to believe she was. Things were never shaken up in her life. It was all very story book and run of the mill.
Getting a scholarship to go away to college, it was her first step out into the real world without the support of her family. It was then that her life took a turn that she would always think about and wonder "what if". a few weeks after she arrived and got settled in school, her brother was just moments away from their parents house, to pick up a box that Hayden asked him to have sent to her at school, as he was taking the turn to their block a drunk driver t-boned his car, killing him instantly.
Now everyone says that they have that defining moment in their life and this would have been hers. Her partner in crime, best friend, and touchstone was instantly gone. She had gone back home for the funeral and it was as if she was invisible. Her parents grief was suddenly masked with alcohol, working endless hours, and just acting as if they had no children. The one person she trusted and needed most was no longer there. Her friends back home treated her differently and after a short time spent at home she returned to school a changed person.
Out with the determined, focused, and overly mature Hayden and in with the free living, careless, and overly social [in the wrong way] girl. She kept up with school, but seemed to find herself slipping more into the frat houses then her school work. She did how ever settle down when finding a man that was able to break through the barrier. Things were perfect and she found herself becoming the person she once was. Then, per usual in her life after her brothers passing, she slipped back into that girl causing her life to spin out of control yet again.
After healing from that mistake, she vowed herself to get on the straight path again. After making amends with her parents, finishing school and graduating with a Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice and Psychology. She attended the police academy. Everyone thought that she had decided to pick up where her brother left off but she felt like this was her calling. Well, it was her calling after she knew that her parents would be proud of her and get back together. Since his death, like stated before, they began to slip away from each other. Regardless, she stuck with being a cop and succeeded more than she could have even imagined. Having started as a rookie with the NYPD was definitely nothing that a weakling could have rode out. It made her tough and able to stand her ground.
Hayden is Half Jewish; her mothers maiden name is Lebowitz. She did have her Bat Mitzvah whens he was 12. She attends Synagogue on Friday's. She is also half Italian. Which she practices Catholicism. Her grandfather came to America in 1926 his name was Salvatore Di Silva but changed it to Sal Dusick when the family that he worked for took him under his wing. Usually if she doesn't have to work she does attend Mass on Saturday's. She is a firm believer in her faith but she is realistic in the thoughts of Evolution and doesn't find it at all interesting to debate religion. She grew up with both Christmas and [C]Hanukkah and was not brought up in a kosher household
strengths She is very compassionate with the victims that she works with, there is just something about her that people warm up to. She knows when to back off and when to be there for someone. Hayden uses her humor to get people to warm up to her even though she puts up a guard she is a really good person to have on your side. She is confident, bright and willing to go out of her way for anyone that would do the same for her.
weaknesses: She is a neat freak, everything has its place! Not really a weakness but it annoys people. Hayden is a little too blunt and it pisses off her co-workers. There is no way she will admit weaknesses but if you get her at a low point she'll just start spewing them out. Ultimately, she'll break instantly if someone brings up her brother. That is a sore spot and as much as she puts her guard up about it, her heart is still completely broken.
relationships/love life: Two words describe Hayden's love life... BRADY CALLAHAN. He has been the constant on and off in her life for the past 7 years. Currently the two are off after yet another terrible break up after moving to Santa Monica California. There wasn't anything she wouldn't do for Brady but as much as she loved him sometimes the two let their jealousy and stubborness take over and thats they would break up. Dating wasn't easy since he came and left her life, no one ever compares or comes close to filling the spot she has in her heart for hot headed irish/southern boy with piercing blue eyes.
• Hayden was extremely close to her brother, they could even sense when they were in trouble. He saved her life once when she was 7 and he was 10. She'd fallen through some ice. He sensed their was trouble and found her friends who were panicking and pulled her from the water.
• Since her brothers passing, she really got into the supernatural and is a firm believer in spirits, haunting and ghosts. Her bookshelf is packed full of books about white noise, conjuring spirits, guardian angels and everything else supernatural.
• Hayden does not cook! She doesn't know how to. Her mother cooked at home, in college her ex cooked or they went out. Living in New York, her live in was in charge of that. There no pans or pots in her apartment.
• She's been in love twice. Once in college, til this day she still regrets because Lucas was the only man, at the time, that was able to break through her wall and get her open up. Then again with Brady, a rough and tough southern boy. They were polar opposites but were an instant match from the moment they started their first date.
• Coffee is her thing, she won't talk in the morning til she's had at least 2 cups. [Black, single shot of espresso with 5 packs of sugar in the raw]
• Her favorite color is pink of all things, she does come off a bit tomboyish but she has to run with the boys club in her career
• Dating is NOT her thing. She is a klutz outside of work. She doesn't get it. At work she's nothing but professional but around guys she is a mess. says the wrong things, does the wrong things, gives the wrong impression.
• She is a neat freak, everything has its place!
• In November of 06 while Hayden was working as a beat cop for the NYPD, she was called to break up a domestic dispute between a couple in the meat packing district. While trying to arrest the man for assault and battery, he stole her partners gun and shot her point blank in the stomach. After recovering and spending time behind a desk she figured it was time to put her education to use.
• Random facts are her thing. If you get her started, she won't stop.
• Discovery, National Geographic, TLC are the only channels she watches. Anything about Astronomy, Dinosaurs, related to the ocean, she loves!
• Her parents adopted a boy that she is not too fond of. Him being around was a major reasons she wanted to move as far away as possible. Hayden didn't take time to get to know him before she left and it was something her parents were not letting her live down.
• I LOVE YOU is one sentence you will never find in her vocabulary. Getting her to say that is like pulling teeth.
• Hayden only fears love because she's done nothing but hurt the people she cares about. She blames herself for her brothers death. Though they've made amends, she had alienated her parents. Though she didn't mean to, she cheated on her first love and she left the love of her life for her own selfish needs.
• She's good with kids but never wants any of her own.
• Marriage is not in the picture. The idea of spending your life legally bound to someone else is not her cup of tea.
